The Fedora Project is pleased to announce the release of Fedora Core 6 (Zod). Install-time access to third-party package repositories, extensive performance improvements, support for Intel-based Macs, and a new GUI virtualization manager are some of the primary features. Additionally, Fedora Core 6 provides various improvements on the desktop, including a new default font and theme, the latest releases of GNOME and KDE, and additional options in window managers.

Hello everyone, I announce that the Fedora usability Project was born.

What's fedora Usability?

The Fedora Usability project aims to provide coherence, accessibility and intuivity for all people using Fedora Core and its associated resources. Fedora must be easy and making things simple and coherent for a pleasant use is my objectif with this project.

Our Mission

- Help developers to build coherent and easy to use applications for Fedora human users
- Help webmasters to provide coherent websites
- Help Docs Writers to provide a coherent and comprehensive documentation

How do we work?

We track uncoherent things in the fedora project and send patch to different maintainers to fix those. All things are listed on the schedule and you are free to provide your assistance.

In 1888, Theophilus Van Kannel patents his invention, the revolving door.
This invention solves an engineering problem of air transfer by ensuring that
there is no opening to the outside and the inside of a building at the same
time, which could create massive drafts due to air temperature differences.
This invention is still used today.

Fedora Core 6 Test 2 (5.91) Now Available
==================================
The Fedora Project announces the second release of the Fedora Core 6
development cycle, available for the i386, x86_64, and ppc/ppc64
architectures, including Intel based Macintosh computers. Beware that
Test releases are recommended only for Linux experts/enthusiasts or for
the technology evaluation, as many parts are likely to be broken and the
rate of change is rapid.

Test 3 is scheduled for release September 11, marking the continual
freeze point of the Fedora Core 6 release. Only critical bugs fixed after
this point. It is important that we get your help in testing, reporting and
suggesting fixes for bugs, and directing the technological improvements
we attempt with this release of Fedora Core. Please direct bugs to
http://bugzilla.redhat.com, product Fedora Core, Version fc6test2. As
always, be sure that your bug is not already fixed by updates and search
for existing bugs before filing.

- Packages now have proper BuildRequires
* Ability to install from additional yum repositories during anaconda
installations and kickstarts.
* Functional Java applet plugin for Firefox due to gcjwebplugin
* A new default font, DejaVu, replaces Vera.
* Numerous package updates and upgrades

Updated Fedora Core 6 Schedule

Later than expected, we have now gotten to where Xen is working with
current kernels and are ready to actually freeze and release test2. We
are currently working with the already frozen bits to get a tree ready
and plan to release to the world on Monday, 7 August 2006.

Announcing Fedora Core 4 test1

It's time for the first test release in the Fedora Core 4 development cycle.

FC4test1 is available for i386, x86_64, and (for the first time) PPC/PPC64!

You can download it via BitTorrent from http://torrent.linux.duke.edu/ (recommended)

Notable features of FC4test1 include:
. gcc 4.0 as the primary system compiler
. GNOME 2.10.0 Beta 2 included
. The Eclipse IDE included along with some featured plugins
. A solid foundation of Java packages for developers (ant, gcj, tomcat, struts, more classpath stuff)
and the ability to possibly run Java apps through gij.
. Lots of package updates
. Started movement of packages to Fedora Extras
. Did I mention PowerPC support?

That said, this IS a test release, and I guarantee that there will be bugs
that will be annoying. Your help is needed to find and report those bugs
in bugzilla (http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/). Please also try
updating packages from the development tree, to see if the bugs are
already fixed there.
